The Passito di Pantelleria is a wine that, in principle, everybody likes, it is an enjoyable wine, meditation, a drink after dinner, perhaps accompanied by a pretty sweet (the right). When a wine that is produced by a great winemaker Murana as Savior, it stops being a wine "enjoyable" and becomes a true masterpiece. We are no longer in front of a good bottle, but its presence in a specific way of thinking about love and the grapes for this wonderful land that is Sicily.
100% Muscat of Alexandria known as Zibibbo, and a dazzling color, the grapes grow on the rocky terraces of lava stone of Pantelleria. The color is wonderful: amber with golden reflections. Just opened is wrapping: floral nose, delicate and balanced. Immediately stands out the perfume of dried figs and peaches. You hear the honey in the finish.
taste is even better: the alcohol simply does not exist and after the first sip envelops you a wonderful taste of raisins. Balanced with good acidity. Fresh and full, with a remarkable aromatic complexity. Final Marathon apricot.
To be honest, we're talking about a bottle of 1999 and this leads to a complexity since the vesting date. The weather has put us in making this bottle of his more interesting. In Rome there are maybe 2 or 3 bottles of wine shops that offer these years, really ready.
If I were to define this wine in one word, one word, I would say "voluptuous."
A bottle of memory.
Francesco De Gregori, Titanic.
